Ekathi is a discovery directory that helps people find products from Maldives businesses that sell on Instagram and other public channels. This policy explains what information we handle, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Ekathi ("Ekathi", "we", "us") operates a searchable directory of products listed publicly by Maldives businesses on Instagram and other public storefronts. We do not sell products ourselves or process payments — purchases happen directly with the seller.
Information we collect
- Public Instagram content. For business and creator accounts, we index publicly available content — posts, captions, images, hashtags, and public profile details such as username, display name, profile picture, and bio.
- Owner-authorized Instagram data. When a shop owner connects their account through Instagram Login (the Instagram Graph API), we access the media and basic profile information covered by the permissions they grant (e.g.
instagram_business_basic). Access tokens are stored securely and used only to fetch that account's content for display in the directory. - Your account data. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture to create and secure your account.
- Usage data. Favorites, clicks, searches, and basic analytics events, plus standard technical data such as browser type and device information.
How we use information
- Build and maintain a searchable directory of products and shops.
- Use AI to read captions and images to extract product details (title, price, category) and organize listings.
- Store copies of images so listings display reliably even if the original post changes.
- Operate, secure, and improve the service, and understand which listings are useful.
- Communicate with you about your account or requests.
Service providers we share data with
We do not sell personal data. We share data only with providers that help us run the service, under their respective terms:
- Meta / Instagram — for owner-authorized access via the Instagram Graph API.
- Google — for sign-in (authentication).
- Infrastructure and processing providers — to host the application, store images, and process content that powers the directory.
Data from Instagram / Meta
Our use of information received through the Instagram Graph API follows Meta's Platform Terms and Developer Policies. We use that data only to display the connected shop's content within Ekathi, and we delete it when the shop disconnects or requests removal. See our Data Deletion page for how to request deletion.
Retention
We keep information for as long as it is needed to run the directory or as required by law. Connected-account data is removed after disconnection or a deletion request, and account data is removed when you delete your account.
Your rights and choices
- Access or correct your account information.
- Delete your account and associated data.
- Shop owners can disconnect their Instagram account at any time, which stops further data access.
- Anyone can request that publicly indexed content be removed from the directory.
To exercise any of these, email hello@ekathi.com.
Children
Ekathi is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
